5. Intervals Of Precision
from Couchlock Sounds · host Couchlock Sounds
This experimental album came as a result of sitting and thinking about life in the township of Mdantsane. Zingisa Nkosinkulu and Sonwabiso Dlokolo initiated a duo emcees called Countless Effects as Layman Fog and Sulliven Gill aka Kory Waters. Inspired by the idea of keeping on keeping on, which can also mean Umzingisi Akanaswa, they recorded these essays during the 3rd term school holidays in 10 days, September 2006. Writing, making beats, asking for beats, ripping the microphone while maneuvering the mouse cursor till the street essays were complete. Making beats and recording joints is how we survived the streets of Mdantsane as we wrestled with the effects of colonisation and apartheid. It is how we philosophised about our existence and the streets as a site of thinking. This album for us is a way of thinking from the streets as we scope it with Hairy Eyeballs. The album is raw material. Listen and enjoy, puff and pass at the same time.
