Are there conversations you keep putting it off because they feel uncomfortable? Whether it's chatting to a friend about something that's been troubling you or opening up to a counselor at school about your struggles, it can sometimes be hard to speak up in fear of being judged or how the other person might react. Many people don't like 'confronting' conversations or being vulnerable about how they really feel, but tune into this episode to learn how to overcome that fear and understand why the discomfort of speaking up is always much better than trying to pretend everything is ok.

Want to speak in person at your school or college to help support your peers?

What A Word Symone Talks I am Symone D, Founder and CEO of “SymoneTalks,” an organization I began as a woman who suffered in my childhood from depression, along with suicidal thoughts and ideation. You probably don’t feel like yourself and it’s exhausting.Yet, there will be a day when you will be a capable teacher with a toolbox of skills that you’ll be able to competently employ in a multitude of situations. There will be a time when people will look to you as an expert in the field of education. It hasn’t happened yet, but it will. This podcast is meant to help you find your way during those first few years of teaching. We’ll talk with experienced teachers to find practical ways for you to tackle the early part of your teaching career. We’ll give you some inspiration to keep you going.
