Leigh Oshirak is a Global Brand Consultant with over 30 years of experience building some of America’s most beloved brands. Seven years ago, she launched her own consulting business and has been working with Female-founded companies. Prior to that, she was the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Digital Content at Williams-Sonoma Inc. and the Director of Marketing for Joe Boxer. She started her career in Los Angeles in 1990 in the film industry, working for major film studios, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Disney’s Touchstone Pictures, and Warner Brothers on movies such as the Tina Turner biopic: What’s Love Got to Do with It which was nominated for two Oscars. She is the co-author of the acclaimed book: Balance is a Crock, Sleep is For The Weak: An Indispensable Guide to Surviving Working Motherhood, published by Penguin in April 2010.   In this episode, Nada sits down with Leigh to discuss her decision to “retire from paid work”. Leigh unpacks how and why she came to this decision. The conversation invites all to consider how to be intentional about our future—whether stepping into or away from work. Together, they run through Leigh’s previous experiences as a consultant and how she is focused on using her expertise to help others while also moving into a space of authentic discovery.  In addition to sharing her recent retirement decision, Leigh shares tips about jumping into the consulting world and makes recommendations around boundary setting,  turning down clients, paying attention to red flags, and creating contracts to safeguard payment.
