Amos | Amos 1:1-2 | John Baker
from Multiply Church Podcast · host Multiply Church
Main Idea: The book of Amos starts with a quick introduction to the prophet himself. It tells us that Amos was a simple shepherd/farmer from a small town named Tekoa, 10 miles south of Jerusalem. This wasn't some fancy city boy; he was a southern farm boy who understood the struggles of everyday life. God chose to speak through this ordinary guy to deliver a powerful message to the wealthy elite of Israel. Questions: Is our worship merely an external ritual or a genuine response to who God is (His character) and what He has done (His actions)? What does it mean to trust in God's sovereignty while actively pursuing peace and justice in the world? How can we embody Christ-like love and justice in a country and world that increasingly prioritizes comfort and self-interest? What are the first steps we can take as individuals, families, MCs, and the church to care holistically for the vulnerable, marginalized, and oppressed in our community?
