Awkward moments are one of the most universal human experiences-- but today we celebrate of all those times when we've said or done something that we wish we could immediately undo because it's just so embarrassing! You know those social slip-ups and cringe-worthy situations...but they usually make for great stories later. In 1872 Charles Darwin publishes "The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals," giving one of the first scientific accounts of blushing as a physical sign of social self‑consciousness.  The 1984 John Hughes film Sixteen Candles puts teen awkwardness on the big screen...and in 1999 'cringe comedy' is part of TV shows like The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
