I had the opportunity to chat again with vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ashton Nyte, who founded the Darkwave/ Gothic Rock act The Awakening.  Now US-based, The Awakening was formed in Johannesburg South Africa in the 90s.  Nyte more recently released his 12th studio album also called "The Awakening. "  With a catalogue of over 300 released original songs, Nyte and The Awakening have enjoyed airplay and chart success on radio stations worldwide, with songs featured in popular television shows like 'Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin' and 'The Purge'. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems.
