Sal Strom is a Bitcoin Artist exhibiting at the upcoming Bitcoin Miami Conference (2023).
Her passion for art began in her childhood, as she spent evenings painting while waiting for her mom to finish work. At a young age, she experimented with photography, capturing unique poses of her Barbie doll. This led to her first encounter with censorship when the photography store owner deemed her prints unsuitable for a child and refused to hand them over.
Fascinated by death throughout her life, Sal was partly influenced by her father, a WWII and Korean War veteran who ultimately committed suicide. She had a childhood ritual of burying dead cats with her friend and faced personal challenges, including alcoholism and two brain tumour surgeries. Sal channeled these experiences into her art and relied on laughter therapy to recover from the injuries caused by the brain tumours.
Eventually, Sal discovered Bitcoin, which in her own words "gave her goosebumps." Despite concerns about its energy usage, she invested in it on behalf of her grandchildren and has become a successful Bitcoin artist.
