August 9 – Exodus 6:1-13

In this passage, we see God once again speaking to Moses reassuring that He sees and understand the conditions of the Israelites as they are enslaved by the Egyptians, but His promise is true.  The people did not listen as Moses tried to assure them that God would lead them from Egypt into the Promised Land.  God prompted Moses to go to Pharaoh once again asking that the people of Israel be brought out of the land of Egypt.  Can you blame the people of Israel for grumbling and not trusting Moses?  Have you ever found yourself in a situation where something is promised and not delivered?  Perhaps you’d done everything right, said the right things, and done your best only to be disappointed.  Often the word ‘defeated’ hardly describes your feelings.  If you are feeling weary from life’s situations, ask God to give you direction.  Pray for those who have broken promises.  Pray that your situation will improve and ask God to give you endurance and guidance.  John 16:33 gives such promise of our future as Christians, “In this world we will have troubles, but take heart, I have overcome the world’.  Jesus gives us peace and is our promise to salvation and everlasting life.
