Five of South Africa’s neighbours have been forced to ban all poultry imports from South Africa after a devastating outbreak of Avian Influenza. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia have all banned certain poultry products. The South African government has introduced a raft of conditions on the trading of live chickens in an effort to contain an outbreak of avian influenza after an outbreak on two farms in Mpumalanga‚ where eggs were destroyed and about 260 000 chickens culled last week.To help us unpack and discuss this further we are joined on the line by:1.
