Ein Banküberfall in Mainz nahe des Hauptbahnhofs im Oktober 2010. Eine Streife kommt zufällig vorbei und nimmt sofort die Verfolgung auf. Acht Minuten später sind die Täter gefasst - doch der Einsatz läuft nicht nach Lehrbuch. Rainer und seine Kollegin müssen in Sekunden entscheiden, als Passanten ihnen die Fluchtrichtungen zeigen. Sie trennen sich und verfolgen die Täter allein. Rainer stellt einen der Männer an einer Ampel, seine Kollegin fasst den zweiten in einem Hinterhof samt Beute. Polizeitrainer Günther Epple von der Deutschen Hochschule der Polizei ordnet ein, warum dieser Einsatz nicht nach Lehrbuch ablief, welche Risiken solche Entscheidungen und Alleinhandlungen bergen und weshalb Banküberfälle heute als wenig attraktiv gelten.
