BARN NIGHT: Cocktails and the Trial of the Century

from The PodCask: a Podcast About Whiskey

This edition of Barn Night we decided to do a cocktail competition, with each cocktail needing an element of creativity added. But before we get to that, we hold a kangaroo court to serve justice on Greeze. He betrayed Joe Bourbon's trust by opening the beaver bourbon at the studio without Joe B. being present.  After sentencing, the cocktail competition beings. Below are the recipes if you would like to make them at home. Joe's: Muddled mint, 4 oz Whiskey of your choice (Joe used Rittenhouse Bottled in Bond), 1 squirt of Nellie and Joe's key lime juice, a splash of sweet tea, Goya Jamaican Style Ginger beer, to taste. Will's: 6 oz Peach Mint simple syrup (2 diced peaches, 1 bunch fresh mint leaves, 1 cup white sugar, just shy of 1 cup of water -- boil peaches, water and sugar until sugar fully dissolved. Stir in mint and let steep until cool), 5 oz bourbon (Will used Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond), 4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice, 8oz water. Chris's: 1.5oz Weller Antique, 1/2oz dry orange curaçao, fresh mint. Stir everything over ice for 20 seconds then strain into a rocks glass. Splash with an ounce of Ale-8 and squeeze a wedge of orange into the drink. Greeze: 3/4 OLD GREEZY BATCH ONE, 1/4 luxardo cherry jam. "Garnish" with ginger ale, KY Ale 8 stuff, Monster energy drink white can, or Coke
