Baseball and BBQ Episode #141 Features Sports Journalist and Author, Terence Moore and NFL Network Insider, Ian Rapoport Terence Moore is the self-proclaimed "Hank Aaron Whisperer" and that fact is undeniable after reading his new book, The Real Hank Aaron:  An Intimate Look at the Life and Legacy of the Home Run King.  The book provides an in-depth look at Aaron, the man, and not just Arron, the baseball superstar.  Terence discusses the book, which includes Aaron's admiration for Jackie Robinson and his true thoughts on Barry Bonds and the steroids era.  Terence has spent more than 40 years as an award-winning sports journalist.  He has covered more than 30 Super Bowls, numerous World Series, Olympic Games, NBA Finals, Final Fours, Indianapolis 500's, championship fights, major golf tournaments, and other sporting events.  He has worked extremely hard to achieve his success and like Aaron he has had to deal with years of racism but has come out on top. To get an autograph copy of the book, you can go to http://www.therealhankaaron.com/   On this website, click "contact me" at the top, and then in the "comment" section, add your address and who you wish Terence to autograph the book to. Ian Rapoport has been with the NFL Network since April 2012 and in July 2013 he became the NFL Network's Insider.  Prior to that, he served as a New England Patriots beat reporter for the Boston Herald.  Yes, all of that is football related and this is the Baseball and BBQ podcast; so why is he on?  Funny, you should ask.  Doug Scheiding, who joins us on this episode, has had barbecue-related interactions with Ian.  Rapoport loves barbecue and has a smoker which has traveled with him as he has relocated to various cities throughout his career.  If that is not enough of a reason to have him on then perhaps his love for the New York Mets makes another strong argument for this appearance.  Ian was fortunate to be asked by the New York Mets to throw out the first pitch in June 2021, and his wife served as his battery-mate.     Between interviews, Leonard tries his hand at a baseball rant.   We recommend you go to https://bbqbuddha.com/ where you will find award-winning sauces, rubs, and cookbooks and, until July 16, 2022 when you enter the promo code, BBQALLSTAR15 at checkout you will receive a 15% savings on your order.  Want more terrific products then head to https://baseballbbq.com for special grilling tools and accessories, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, Magnechef https://magnechef.com/ for excellent and unique barbecue gloves, and https://www.cuttingedgefirewood.com/ for high quality firewood and cooking wood. We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" by the musician, Dave Dresser, and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.
