"Be true to your work, your word, and your friend"

from Dear Beth...A Women in Law Podcast

In this special edition of Dear Beth, the podcast pauses to honour the extraordinary life and legacy of Beth Bilson, KC. Beth's passing on August 13, 2025, was a profound loss to the legal community and to all who knew her. In this episode, we reflect on the many ways her influence continues to illuminate the path forward. As an educator, community leader, and relentless advocate for women's equality, Beth was a force who reshaped the legal landscape in Saskatchewan and beyond. Hosts Jen Quesnel, Brea Lowenberger, and Leah Howie are joined by a very special guest: Kate Bilson - Beth's daughter and a lawyer in her own right. Together, they revisit one of Beth's most impactful projects: Creating a Seat at the Table: Reflections from Women in Law, the book Beth co-authored with Leah and Brea. This collection brings together candid, powerful first-person stories from women across the legal profession, capturing their lived experiences, challenges, triumphs, and hopes for the future. The episode also features moving reflections and contributions from Justice Georgina Jackson, Anita Fraser, Katarina Kostiha, Lawren Trotchie, and Judy Jaunzems-Fernuk, each offering their own perspective on Beth's enduring impact and the relevance of Creating a Seat at the Table. This episode was made possible through the generosity and support of McKercher LLP and Kate Bilson. _____ Additional Resources:    Read about the incredible career of Dr. Beth Bilson, KC here: https://law.usask.ca/people/emeriti/beth-bilson.php   Read the obituary for Dr. Beth Bilson, KC here: https://www.arbormemorial.ca/en/park/obituaries/ruth-elizabeth-bilson/146359.html   Discover the book, Creating a Seat at the Table: Reflections from Women in Law: https://law.usask.ca/createjustice/projects/current-projects/creating-a-seat-at-the-table.php
