Ben, who joined the Army at just sixteen, straight from a small village in Suffolk. What followed was a huge cultural shift into a ‘laddish’ environment where alcohol — and later drugs — became a way of coping with mental health struggles. That path led to serious personal consequences, including the breakdown of his marriage.During COVID, Ben reached a turning point. He chose sobriety, began focusing on his mental wellbeing, and started rebuilding his life. Today, he’s passionate about breaking the stigma around men’s mental health — and as a father, he’s determined to raise his son in a way that encourages emotional openness rather than silence.
