Big Woods Bucks

On this episode of Michigan Wild, Nate Rozeveld and Hunter Sparks discuss various topics related to hunting and outdoor activities in Northern Michigan. They talk about their excitement for the upcoming hunting season, the difference between hunting the bigwoods and agriculture, and the benefits of learning from podcasts, YouTube videos, and social media. They also touch on the Michigan youth hunt, trapping, trout fishing, and the Michigan elk herd. Hunter shares his experience with the elk herd and how he fulfilled his goal of finding his first elk shed this past spring, which took a lot of effort and consistency.  Being in Northern Michigan, Hunter deals with a low deer density and he has found success targeting bucks where they seek refuge in the fall. He likes finding rublines that lead him to these secluded areas that prove a buck has been and likes to be there. Hunter then proceeds to set up an ambush with a ground blind, a tactic that is successful because there is a lack of suitable trees to hunt out of. This strategy has helped Hunter shoot some awesome bucks the past few years and is something Nate is looking forward to implementing this fall as well. Thank you for listening to the episode!
