Karen’s Birthday Q&A
Synopsis

As Karen gets older it becomes more about memories instead of projecting a certain image.

She enjoys celebrations, but of course, with people, she truly cares about. During her birthday her “inner-kid” comes out wanting cookie cake and ice cream. Handbags and Mexican food can make the birthday special as she does not prefer extravagant celebrations. While coming up on the big 30, she reflects on her twenties and thinks about what is to come. She would do everything the same while implementing the importance of health. Conscious of what she put in and on her body has changed her life tremendously. “I am my product. And my product does everything for me.”

Birthday Celebrations

Karen’s love language is gift-giving. She loves celebrating other people and shining a light on their accomplishments. She truly enjoys the act of giving gifts - receiving gifts is a different story. While she does acknowledge her birthday, she doesn't always celebrate her birthday in the same way that most people do. It’s hard for her to receive the attention that comes along with birthday festivities such as big parties serenading her with the song “Happy Birthday”.

Giving Meaningful Gifts

Karen holds her fine-tuned gift-giving skills to a high standard while giving her father credit for it. “My dad taught me how to win at Christmas,'' Karen explains that it's almost like a sport. Her generous father instilled in her that a gift should be intentional. While it does not matter the price or size, the intent behind it should hold strong reasoning. Due to this reason, Karen prefers to both give and receive meaningful gifts rather than practical gifts.

 Favorite Birthday Memory

Out of all of the previous birthdays, Karen's favorite memory comes from her fifth birthday. Everyone was dressed in princess costumes- Karen was made up as Jasmine. Only being five she was confused why she was receiving so many hits while everyone sat around waiting for her to open them.

What’s Your Age

While she does not follow the cliche rule of not telling her age, she does not announce it to just anyone. Of course her close friends and family know that she is approaching 30 as it seems to be a “check marker” nowadays. She believes that the third decade becomes the best decade. Karen is excited about the growth and progress that will come and often thinks of this quote, “People overestimate what they can do in a year and they underestimate what they can do in a decade.” The twenties are fun
