We hope our podcast can help deepen your understanding of the global use case of Bitcoin across Africa and around the world. The show is created and hosted by former regulator and Bitcoin Activist Charlene Fadirepo.    On this October 2023, episode of the Bitcoin In Africa Show, Charlene is live at the first Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit, held in Nairobi, Kenya. Special thank you to the leadership of Kenyan Bitcoin Mining company, Gridless Compute (@GridlessComputer) [Erik Hersman (CEO  & Co-Founder), Janet Maingi (Co-Founder), and Phillip Walton (Co-Founder)] who organized the conference.  In this episode, Charlene speaks with several guests across African's Bitcoin mining ecosystem. Charlene speaks with Guinean Bitcoin miner, Omar Berry (@Fula_coin). Omar shares his Bitcoin mining origin story and how he is living his own dream of bringing more hashrate into the continent. Then Charlene speaks with Gridless Compute Co-Founder, Janet Maingi (@nduku_jay) about her Bitcoin journey and how her past career success in the telecom space led to a golden opportunity–an opportunity to become one the first large-scale pioneers of green Bitcoin mining in Africa. Janet also shares stories of hope --about how Bitcoin mining is transforming lives and providing basic needs across rural communities in Kenya.  Next up, we meet Kenyan Mechanical Engineer, Barre Yassin,who is the lead designer of Kifaru, Gridless Compute’s Bitcoin mining container. Barre shares his insights on designing the mining container to thrive in African terrain. Lastly, Charlene speaks with Gridless Compute CEO, Erik Hersman (@whiteafrican), who shares his Bitcoin journey and his vision for Gridless to “push electrification to the edges in Africa”. We learn about Erik’s incredible leadership in the African Bitcoin Mining ecosystem and more inspiring stories of how bitcoin mining is changing lives in East Africa.
