Growing up in a West African environment, I witnessed many people who had mental health conditions being labelled as insane, demonic, troublesome, or cursed. Years previously, I thought it was the only explanation for all actions by "crazy people." I had to read up on the realities of mental health conditions in order to clear up my ignorance.
