40 Jahre Fakultät für Informatik Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) Begriffe wie Informatik, Software-Entwicklung oder IT sind aus unserem Alltag nicht mehr weg zu denken. Anfang der 70er Jahre war das aber noch ganz anders. Informatiker waren oft Pioniere, die sich in ein neues Forschungsfeld begeben haben und ausgebildete Informatiker mussten bei der Bewerbung um einen Arbeitsplatz erst einmal ihr Studienfach erklären. Dennoch wurde am 01. Oktober 1972 an der damaligen Universität Karlsruhe Deutschlands erste Fakultät für Informatik gegründet.Aus diesem Anlass feierte die Fakultät für Informatik am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) am 12. und 13. Oktober ihren 40. Geburtstag und lud dazu viele Ehrengäste, ihre Studenten und Mitarbeiter sowie alle technikinteressierten Menschen auf den Campus des KIT ein. An beiden Tagen präsentierten die neun Institute der Fakultät rund um den Audimax ihre zukunftsweisende Forschung.
