Över en natt korades vicepresidenten Kamala Harris till ”brat” av unga amerikaner på sociala medier. Det hela började med ett viralt klipp som kommer från ett tal Harris höll i maj förra året. I klippet har ett citat och Kamalas skratt remixats ihop med en låt från den brittiska popstjärnan Charli XCX:s nya album med just namnet “Brat”. Och det gick fort för demokraterna och Kamala Harris själv att haka på trenden. De har bland annat ändrat utseendet på det officiella kampanjkontot på X där typsnitten och färgen är nu är detsamma som på Charli XCXs albumomslag. Vissa menar att det här är ett försök att vara “down with the kids” och ett sätt för Kamala Harris att nå unga följare. Samtidigt uppstår frågan om strategin kan påverka stödet hon redan har.
