Breaking Loose by Tara Janzen

This text follows the exploits of Suzi Toussi, an art dealer involved in retrieving an ancient artifact known as the Memphis Sphinx from Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. Working unofficially for General Grant at SDF, Suzi navigates a dangerous criminal underworld populated by figures like Levi Asher and Esteban Ponce, who also seek the Sphinx. Simultaneously, Dax Killian, a former Special Forces operative on a separate mission to locate the artifact for Erich Warner, encounters Suzi and becomes entangled in her situation, ultimately protecting her. Their individual goals converge as they face corrupt police, gangsters, and a mysterious, dangerous figure named Conroy Farrel who has his own reasons for being in Paraguay related to Warner and a past trauma involving J.T. Chronopolous and the NRF. The narrative highlights various characters linked to a covert team, including Dylan Hart and Christian Hawkins, all operating under the radar while pursuing high-stakes objectives and dealing with personal histories.
