Building Better Relationships Through Active Listening - Episode 239

from Let's Coach with Carolyn - Career Strategist, Leadership and Life Coach · host Heather Younger

Send us Fan MailEveryone likes to feel heard and know that their voice matters. It can be in our jobs, careers, relationships, or family. We want to feel heard, seen, valued and understood. But, if we take a hard look, we will see some of the biggest failures or misunderstandings in our work life and personal relationships are because, plainly put, our communications skills suck. We can be saying exactly what we want, but the person we are telling it to, are they really listening? A person will hear what they want to hear and act on that. Bad decisions are made, and we stay in relationships we probably should not be in, resulting in an expensive, costly error that can be difficult to recover from or maybe even divorce. All that could have been avoided if we just invested in active listening. In this episode, employee engagement and loyalty expert Heather Younger discusses how you can build better relationships and improve communication professionally and personally through active listening. We talk about:  The impact of  not listening  Saying things just to get along   The cycle of active listening    Listening does not mean agreeing    Unconscious bias and listening    It's more than just listening; you have to take action too and more...Get ready to build better relationships professionally and personally. Connect with Heather: https://heatheryounger.comConnect with Carolyn: https://carolyn360.com or use the code leader to meet Carolyn on the Owwll app - https://infinitycoaching.net/appleowwll
