En la selección de ensayos que se presentan en esta ocasión se cuestionan conceptos de la identidad mexicana y se reflexiona, lúcida y puntualmente, sobre la conciencia nacional, los lugares comunes acerca de la patria y su historia. Sobre el álbum del que han sido elegidos los audios, pertenecientes a la colección Voz Viva de México, de la Dirección de Literatura de la UNAM, el poeta Jorge Fernández Granados escrib Teoría del Candingas UNAM Salvador Elizondo (Ciudad de México, 1932-2006). Escritor, traductor y crítico literario mexicano. Colaborador de diversas revistas como Vuelta, Plural y la Revista de la Universidad de México. Se desempeñó como profesor en la UNAM y, junto con Juan Rulfo, fue asesor literario en el Centro Mexicano de Escritores. Por su estilo audaz y su intención explícita de explorar los límites de la escritura es considerado un autor de vanguardia y un referente de la literatura mexicana moderna. Autor de obras como ‘Farabeuf o la crónica de un instante’ (1965), ‘Narda o el verano’ (1966), ‘El retrato de Zoe y otras mentiras’ (1969), ‘El grafógrafo’ (1972), ‘Camera lucida’ (1983) y ‘Elsinore: un cuaderno’ (1988). Recibió becas de la Fundación Ford, del Centro Mexicano de Escritores y de la Fundación Guggenheim y fue miembro de la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua y de El Colegio Nacional. Fue reconocido con el Premio Xavier Villaurrutia en 1965 y el Nacional de Ciencias y Artes en el área de Lingüí
