Send us a text and tell us what you're enjoying here at the Knit and Nourished Podcast!Let's dive a little deeper into the Transfiguration of Jesus in Mark 9.Scriptures Referenced:On Mt Sinai Moses receives the Law, encounters God face to face, and has to wear a veil because of the brightness of his face (Ex 24:15-18, 34:29-35).After confronting the prophets of Baal on Mt Carmel, Elijah encounters God on Mt Sinai and it appears he also covers his face with a mantle (1 Kg 18:20-39, 19:11-13).In Jewish culture all things must be confirmed by two or three witnesses (Dt 19:15, 2 Co 13:1, Mt 18:16).Jesus is the Messiah who came not just to fulfill the Law and Prophets (Mt 5:17).All the Law and Prophets speak concerning Him (Lk 24:27,44).Peter, James, and John would also become three witnesses to this event (2 Pt 1:16-18).Jesus is the God of both the living and the dead (Rm 14:9).Elijah represents the living because he was taken by God and never died (1 Kg 2:11).Moses represents the dead as he died and was secretly buried by God (Dt 34:5-6, Jude 1:9).God who once dwelt only in the tabernacle in the wilderness now dwells in us, His tabernacle of flesh (1 Co 3:16, 6:19).Luke tells us they were speaking with Jesus of his death, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem (Lk 9:31).We too are dead in Christ and raised to life with him (Rm 6:4-5).We’re digging even deeper to be women who ‘Love God Through His Word’ by reading the whole Bible this year.Download our Reading Schedule.Subscribe for weekly emails with encouraging insights into each week's readings.Follow the Bible in a Year Facebook Page.
