Changing the Narrative (ft. Julie)

from Real Talk with Melody · host Melody Olander

Episode 2 of Real Talk with @iamstamm in New York City (You'll randomly hear the sound of the city and sirens) and @butyoudontlooksickofficial In this episode I talk with Julie about the book she published titled "Some Days We"  This childrens book shows the perspective of a young boy named Wyatt and how he views his superhero mom with a chronic illness.  Julie and I discuss the stigma behind being a parent with a chronic illness and how to have hard conversations with young children regarding chronic illness. We give our insight of how important it is to change the narrative regarding chronic illness and why doctors opinions aren't always worth listening to.  About our guest: Julie is an MS advocate who published a book titled "Some Days We" This book can currently be found on Amazon or at Barnes and Noble, and will soon be available internationally in different languages. Julie wanted to use her personal experience to give the story behind chronic illness a different narrative. Generally, chronic illness is talked about in a sad and depressing way. Julie wanted to write a book with a different perspective. One through the eyes of a young boy named Wyatt who views his mom as a superhero.
