BOSCooks's podcast Baltimore Outreach Services or BOS (pronounced boss) was born 13 years ago when congregants of Christ Lutheran Church, in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Charm City, felt compelled to help homeless women and children. The members and leadership of the church, led by BOS Executive Director, Dr. Karen Adkins, developed a 40-bed shelter in the church's basement for women and their kids to live. Soon it became clear that the women and children needed more than shelter, but life-skills to help them become and remain self-sufficient. The program now includes transitional housing, health, education and job training opportunities. Enter Baltimore chef, former restaurant owner, and caterer, Connie Crabtree. Working with Dr. Adkins, Chef Crabtree created a program to teach culinary arts and food safety to the women living in the shelter. The program called, Essential Skills teaches basic skills that can open the door to the vast job opportunities in food services, even for those who have been New Hope International (German) Ps. Pastor Lao is Senior Pastor of New Hope International church. Ps. Varun graduated number one in his class from King Chulalongkorn Royal University's Medical school in Bangkok, Thailand. After practicing as a neurosurgeon and pastoring at a church in Central Thailand for 3 years, he came to the United States in 1988 to study at the University of Washington's School of Medicine where he became chief resident. At the same time, he felt called and compelled by God and encouraged to start a church in Seattle with only a few new converts. In the midst of beginning his medical practice in a new and foreign land, Pastor Varun stepped out in faith to start the church in the basement of his North Seattle home. Encounter Church Encounter Church Encounter Church was birthed in Pastor Hunter Howard’s heart in 2008 when, in a dream, Jesus told him that his main purpose in ministry was to “help people encounter Him.” After spending eight years as a missionary in Chihuahua, Mexico, Hunter married Liz, and they served together on the pastoral team and in missions at Heart for the World Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There they trained up young people to be leaders in the ministry.Encounter Church started in 2014 when Hunter and Liz Howard, plus a team of about 20 young people, moved across the country from Las Cruces to the Atlanta area, to plant a brand new church from scratch. They settled in Cobb County and quickly realized that God was calling them to reach the campus of Kennesaw State University. They started meeting in the Howards’ basement in May 2014, and in September, they officially opened services in a small building in Kennesaw. The church grew and had to relocate several times before purchasing a permanent home in Bobby and the Bedouins Mario Flambeau was once a guitar god, a superstar in the psychedelic heyday. Now he’s a burned-out wreck. When a desperate producer finds him in a church basement in a band with other derelicts, he has visions of a major comeback payday. Add a drummer with an anger management problem and a preening drifter diva lead singer, and you’ve got all the makings of a true rock and roll apocalypse
