It features one of her most famous characters, the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, and his friend and assistant, Captain Hastings. The story is set in France, where Poirot is called upon to solve a murder case.The plot revolves around the murder of a millionaire, Paul Renauld, found stabbed in the back and buried in a newly dug grave adjacent to a golf course. Renauld had written to Poirot for help, fearing for his life, but by the time Poirot arrives, Renauld is already dead. The investigation uncovers a complex web of relationships, secrets, and motives, including Renauld's troubled family life and his past connections.Throughout the novel, Christie showcases her trademark twisty plot, red herrings, and clever misdirections.
