Send us Fan MailWelcome back to Talking Shit, where we get real about the struggles women face—no filters, no fluff. I’m Jana Mowrer, dietitian and today I'm joined by Megan Velo. Megan is a therapist in the Fresno/Clovis, Ca. area who provides virtual counseling guiding moms from burnout to balance.  You can follow her on IG: @mamatherapyhouseOn this episode we’re diving into a topic that’s hitting hard: connection, comparison, and loneliness. We live in the most “connected” era, yet so many of us feel isolated. Social media gives us curated highlights, making us think we’re falling behind. We compare our lives to polished versions of others, leaving us feeling unseen and not enough. The Truth?Connection isn’t about numbers; it’s about depth. More “friends” don’t equal less loneliness—real, meaningful relationships do. Studies show chronic loneliness can harm our health as much as smoking. And comparison? It keeps us from showing up as our authentic selves, pushing us further into isolation. So, how do we break free? Here’s where to start:1️⃣ Prioritize Quality Over Quantity – Deepen the relationships that make you feel safe, seen, and valued.2️⃣ Reevaluate Social Media – Unfollow triggers, take breaks, and ask: Is this making me feel connected or alone?3️⃣ Be Vulnerable – Real connection happens when we let others see the messy, unfiltered version of us.4️⃣ Make In Real Life (IRL) Connection a Priority – Call a friend, grab coffee, join a group—invest in real-life moments.I’ve been caught in the comparison trap, too—thinking I wasn’t doing enough. But the happiest people? They weren’t the ones curating perfect feeds—they were the ones prioritizing real life.Your challenge this week:✨ Put your phone down & connect IRL✨ Have one real, vulnerable convo✨ Remind yourself: You are enough as you are.If this episode hit home, subscribe, leave a review, and share with a friend.
