Sotomayor Magnet 8th Grade Podcast Ms. Castro's Reading & Writing Students In order to honor the unique circumstances of the moment, 8th graders from Sotomayor Arts and Sciences Magnet created a podcast from home! In the first season, students created a Quarantine Playlist. This playlist includes songs they love and that are helping bring calm and joy during this challenging time. In the second season, students conducted interviews with a friend or family member. These interviews cover a wide array of topics from life in the time of coronavirus to the Black Lives Matter Movement. These projects reflect the resilience of our students, as well as their ability to quickly acquire new skills and adapt to rapid changes to their learning environment. They also represent the diversity of interests and personalities of the members of our class. We hope that you enjoy listening to them! Hosts Holly Frey (Stuff You Missed in History Class) and Lauren Vogelbaum (BrainStuff) will present the stories of people whose lives have been changed by the epidemic in their own voices, from rock stars and comedians to medical professionals and recovery program founders. Talk to Me aims not to scare but to inspire hope, with an emphasis on education and empowerment. Interviewees include Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams, musician Nikki Sixx, former NFL player Randy Grimes, comedian Merf Meyer, SpiritWorks Foundation Executive Director Jan Brown, CDC Di
