¿Ustedes saben cuánto miden los colombianos y las colombianas y por qué es importante entender cómo somos? Esa es una pregunta que parece simple pero dice mucho de nuestra historia, de nuestras condiciones de vida y de cómo ha evolucionado el país. Por eso hoy inauguramos un podcast dedicado a este tipo de temas, empezando por la altura: cuánto mide en promedio un colombiano y una colombiana. Cuando uno mira la distribución aparecen datos muy reveladores: hay cerca de un 1% de mujeres que superan el 1.73, concentradas en departamentos como Atlántico, Valle, Bolívar y Cesar, mientras que alrededor de un 3% se ubica en los rangos más bajos, principalmente en Cauca, Nariño, Caldas, Boyacá y Putumayo. Estos datos provienen de fuentes públicas como la Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil y de investigaciones que han analizado más de 130 años de antropometría en Colombia, con bases que hoy superan los 44 millones de registros de personas mayores de edad.
