Moon Over Old Town

If My Violin Had Words - Songs from the melodies I never sang If My Violin Had Words is a collection of songs born from violin melodies that once existed without lyrics. These were pieces I played knowing exactly what they meant to me, but often harder to interpret as instrumental pieces, so these new song combine sampled fragments with lyrics close to my heart — fragments of memory, longing, survival, love, escape, and home. This project imagines what those melodies would become if they finally had a voice. Each track turns a sample from my violin tunes into a song: sometimes cinematic, sometimes intimate, sometimes painful, sometimes hopeful. Together, they move through old streets, locked rooms, seaside sunsets, Duino memories, beautiful disguises, and nights I almost didn’t make it through. At its heart, this album is about giving words to feelings that lived first in sound. Lyrics: [Verse 1] Sittin' on a rooftop Lookin' over the old town The chimneys hold their secrets While the window glass holds down Shadows on the walls now Like ghosts in a slow dance Moonlight in the puddles Feels like a second chance [Pre-Chorus] And I can hear the night breathe Through the bones of the block Every broken little story Still knows how to talk I was almost gone, but I'm still here in view With the sky like an answer And the dark turning blue [Chorus] Moon over old town Stay on me now Moon over old town Pull me through somehow Turn the stone to gold Turn the hurt around Moon over old town Moon over old town [Verse 2] Laundry on the fire escape Swaying like a flag Every crack in the sidewalk Holds the steps I used to drag The alley cats are watching Like they know my name Even all these memories Still burn the same [Pre-Chorus] And I can hear the night breathe Through the bones of the block Every broken little story Still knows how to talk I was almost gone, but I'm still here in view With the sky like an answer And the dark turning blue [Chorus] Moon over old town Stay on me now Moon over old town Pull me through somehow Turn the stone to gold Turn the hurt around Moon over old town Moon over old town [Bridge] If the world gets heavy I let it pass through A cracked-up heart can hold A little silver too So shine on the edges Shine on the wound I was lost in the shadows Now I'm calling to you [Final Chorus] Moon over old town Stay on me now Moon over old town Pull me through somehow Turn the stone to gold Turn the hurt around Moon over old town Moon over old town
