Afgelopen 5 december verstuurde de Gemeente een persbericht met de titel: 'Aan de slag met het Houtens DNA'. Reden genoeg voor de redactie van Daar Hou ik U Aan om dit onderwerp aan de hand van stellingen te bediscussiëren met de raadsleden Bibi Verbeek (VVD) en Anneke Dubbink (fractievoorzitter PvdA). Het onderwerp is belangrijk in verband met de bouwtaak die Houten de komende jaren moet ontwikkelen en uitvoeren. De term Houtens DNA wordt al vele jaren genoemd, maar het bleef tot nu toe een vaag begrip, zelfs voor de Houtense politiek. Hierdoor werder er diverse interpretaties aan gegeven. Het huidige college wil daarom het begrip handen en voeten geven en daar ook de inwoners bij betrekken. Een levendige discussie tussen beide raadsleden ontspon zich door de stellingen waarvan de eerste direct al prikkelend was, namelijk: Gebouwen hoger dan 4 verdiepingen maken geen deel uit van het Houtense DNA.
