Digesting ’You Are What You Eat’: Geta’s Review

from Geta’s Digest Podcast · host Geta’s Digest

In this episode, I review a Netflix docu-series, You Are What You Eat: Twin Study, that promotes veganism. I'm highlighting several red flags and conflicts of interest in the research presented in the series; putting an emphasis on the importance of considering overall health and self-advocacy when choosing a diet. I also get spicy about the portrayal of cows as the main cause of the climate crisis and discusses the limitations of measuring LDL cholesterol. I get realistic about the need for supplementation in a vegan diet and the challenges of long-term veganism. I conclude this episode with debunking 3 myths said in this docu-series.   Episode Takeaways: - Consider the biases and conflicts of interest behind research studies and documentaries. - A vegan diet requires careful consideration of nutritional needs and potential deficiencies. - Question the portrayal of certain foods or practices as the sole cause of health or environmental issues. - Focus on overall health, self-advocacy, and diverse eating habits rather than following extreme diets.
