Summary

After hearing a mysterious sea-shanty from his buccaneer associates, the Gremlin has managed to rope the Demon into a ludicrous, and potentially lucrative, hunt for ancient pirate treasure... and ancient pirate hats. Meanwhile, the Scientist has bigger problems to deal with. His old flame, Nick the Archaeologist, has come for a short stay in the Hotel, and requires some scientific assistance. However, when he asks Brian for help over the Scientist, old problems and ancient artefacts begin to resurface.

After hearing a mysterious sea-shanty from his buccaneer associates, the Gremlin has managed to rope the Demon into a ludicrous, and potentially lucrative, hunt for ancient pirate treasure... and ancient pirate hats. Harrold Throughout the 1920s the Common University provided a free and ready source of education to the working classes of England through various lecture series and the distribution of educative pamphlets in the East End. At the time it renowned as a philanthropic exercise noted more for its good intentions than its practice of asking for lecturers' credentials. Suddenly, the rocket blasts its way up through apartment after apartment in a high-rise, disrupting and transforming the humdrum goings-on of twenty families till it is finally stopped cold by something in the attic. An elliptical hole is punched in each of the book's pages and illustrations to signify where the rocket passed through every apartment! As in all of Newell's books, the verse on the verso-page provides commentary on the recto-page illustration.
