Had a great chat recently with Karl George who is an accountant by trade but is also the Director at the Governance Forum. It was great to speak to Karl about the journey he followed which allowed him to create The Effective Board Member Programmes which have been delivered across the world in partnership with organisations including the The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), The Football Association (FA), The Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) and many more. The Programmes have been developed specifically for young professionals, athletes, senior executives and CEOs. Karl is also an established conference speaker and has done great work in his local community. He is also an author, his latest book is called The Effective Board Member, released in 2017 went to number one in the Best Sellers list for Management and Leadership on Amazon Kindle and is on my list of books to read. It was great to hear his thoughts on athletes having transferable skills suited to other industries; we also share the same thought in that you should never stop learning!
