Last week was all about discovering our superpower, but in any good hero movie there is always a sidekick. It’s the teammate that quietly kicks butt in the background and helps the superhero complete their mission. For us, that sidekick is meditation. In a world full of noise, both literally and figuratively, sometimes silence is the most powerful tool at our disposal. This silence helps us to find stillness amidst our busy lives and provides refuge from all the nonsense happening in the world around us. It even reveals the areas of our life that need attention (and maybe even our superpower). In 2024 he was sanctioned as a Zen teacher. He has given many talks at the Centre, and some of them are collected here. Richard-sensei is also a writer and poet. Seven collections of his writing have been published including: A Network of Dissolving Threads (1991), Suchness: Zen Poetry and Prose (2005), Book of Equanimity Verses (2013), This Explains Everything (2016), Postcard Stories (2019), Resonating Distances (2022) and Walking With Rocks, Dreaming With Rivers : My Year In The Waikato (2023).
