EP 003 - Starting a Small Business, Building the Siouxland Asian Festival, and the Importance of Patience

from The Hustle and Joe Podcast · host Devin Phaly

Back with Episode 3 of the Hustle and Joe Podcast, I talk with Peggy La who runs the Hong Kong Super Market on West 7th in Sioux City, IA about building the oriental community with the Siouxland Asian Festival, how she she took over the family business, and the importance of patience when starting something. It was awesome to hear her family's story of establishing the Hong Kong Super Market back in the 80s and seeing the growth of immigrants and different ethnic communities come together with the Siouxland Asian Festival and her store. With lots of immigrants coming to Sioux City, Peggy is able to offer a sense of community with the food she provides to them at her store. She has something planned to build on West 7th, but you'll have to listen to figure what her next goal is for Sioux City!
