Oat Vaiyaboon, also known as 'Hanging Pixels,' was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and moved to Sydney, Australia, at 14 to pursue his education. After completing his studies in architecture, Oat worked as a draftsman for a decade, adding his creative touch to the Sydney skyline. His passion for photography, which began in high school, was reignited when he pursued a master’s degree in design, photography, and digital media. Oat’s journey from film photography in the darkroom to mastering digital techniques is a testament to his dedication to the craft.   Oat’s photography is deeply influenced by his background in architecture, giving him a unique perspective on landscapes and natural light. He ventured from Sydney to south-west Victoria, with his wife Mandy, capturing stunning images of the Grampians, Great Ocean Road, and other natural wonders. His recent move to the Blue Mountains promises new subject matter for his lens.   Back in 2013, Oat’s wife, Mandy bought him his first drone which started his aerial journey. Now a licensed drone Oat is also a licensed drone operator, using this technology to capture breathtaking aerial shots. He shares his work and passion for photography on social media, finding it therapeutic and a way to connect with nature. Whether alone or with family and friends, Oat seizes every opportunity to photograph the landscapes around him.   In this episode, Oat discusses balancing his photography career with managing a Thai restaurant, the importance of on-site shot perfection, and his editing process. He also touches on the impact of smartphone photography, the value of printed images, and the supportive nature of Melbourne’s photography community compared to Sydney.   I hope you enjoy the show!   You can find Oat’s work  here: Website: https://www.hangingpixels.com.au/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hangingpixels_photo_art/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hangingpixels         Listen to this and other episodes wherever you find your podcasts or on https://grantswinbournephotography.com/lpw-podcast Or subscribe to my YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@grantswinbournephotography Theme music: Liturgy Of The Street by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com #podcast #LandscapePhotography #DronePhotography #CreativeJourney #ArchitecturalInfluence #SydneyPhotography
