Ep. 18 Love Is Adventure?

from Love Is Black Podcast · host Karese Laguerre & Harvey Laguerre

Welcome back to the Love Is Black Podcast! Join us this week as we take a journey through committed black love with That Black Couple, Jenn and Daren Jackson! On this episode they discuss: Fried chicken and Brian McKnight starting a love story; The black experience at a fake HBCU in a PWI; Planning a future on a spreadsheet; Marriage while asexual and queer; What is a black feminist; and more! Watch this interview on YouTube: https://youtu.be/FWvsJYxP6sU Bio: Jenn is a queer, Black feminist from Oakland. Daren is an asexual nerd and novelist from Southern California. Together, they are thirty-somethings who have been married since for over a decade and the couple behind the That Black Couple podcast. This is an accidentally funny podcast covering the absurdity that is navigating life as 30-something Black married millennials whose “American Dreams” look more like an episode of “Living Single” than a Taylor Swift music video.   Their goal is to create a space for Black millennials to discuss and embody doing adulting differently. We're all just trying to figure this ish out, but they believe that not being beholden to “traditional” gender or parenting roles, allowing queerness to be fluid and present in the ways they show up in their relationships and in the world, and built-in community with other 30-something Black folx is the way to make it through.
