Ep. 25 // I Got It From My Dad

from Terminal Exchange

Phillip and Cory Adams are sure to leave you grinning with their father/son banter, teary-eyed with stories of tragedy, and ready to take on safe driving with their episode of Terminal Exchange. Father/Son Duo You’ll hear their smiles in this episode. You’ll feel gut-wrenching agony. You’ll be thinking about how easily you take safety for granted. Phillip chats with his dad, Cory Adams, who is Nussbaum’s Development Coordinator. But, one thing leads to another, and their playful banter leads into a choked-up memory. “Trucks – they can all be replaced. But lives can’t.” Driver Development What does Cory do at Nussbaum? Mainly, he helps increase the fleet’s fuel efficiency. But listen in as he unloads how he began trucking (at the ripe age of four) and his journey through Nussbaum. “I think he stepped on the brake pretty quick. I would have ran right through the barn otherwise.” You Can Never Be Too Safe Cory shares a searing memory that will shake you. There’s a reason behind his passion for safety. And you’ll be hugging your loved ones a little tighter after hearing his close encounter. “Don’t continually beat yourself up over your mistakes but learn from them. Keep them in mind just enough to avoid repeating them.” Dad Jokes Get ready to facepalm. We’ve got dad jokes for days and a surprise coming your way for Father’s Day. Peek behind the curtain with a short snippet in this exchange. Tune in for the full bonus exchange coming soon! Quotes “I had to study it out to figure out why I got good fuel mileage.”“I can attribute why I do get good fuel mileage much to my dad.”“I think he stepped on the brake pretty quick. I would have ran right through the barn otherwise.”“I had always said I’d never be a truck driver. I’ve learned I’ve got to be careful about what I say I would never do. I also said I’d never own a Dodge… I’ve owned three of those.”“It wasn’t so much an opportunity as a necessity.”“I put a ratchet on there and a cheater bar on it. And I was jumping on that cheater bar to make sure I got it on tight.”“That was back when you didn’t know what was going on until you got to the next telephone at the truck stop and you stood in line waiting your turn.”“Don’t continually beat yourself up over your mistakes but learn from them. Keep them in mind just enough to avoid repeating them.”“It reminds a person. You never can be too safe.”“Trucks – they can all be replaced. But lives can’t.”“A lady told my brother-in-law, ‘Well, you’ve got 18 wheels, you can stop faster.’ He said, ‘Well that’s not really the way it works…’”“Distracted driving is not limited to cell phones.”“I can sometimes drive faster than somebody else and get better fuel mileage.”“If you let the truck do things by itself – it’ll do alright. But a driver who is taking advantage of what the truck has is easily getting 2 MPG better. Easy.”“It can be a lot of work. It’s not supposed to be an easy job.” Pictures Company Newsletter Featuring Eddie Adams’ (Cory’s Dad) New Truck Links The Hardest Easy Job in the World

Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation. This knowledge exchange workshop was part of the four months Res The Gold Exchange Podcast Monetary Metals Welcome to The Gold Exchange, where we untangle market and policy complexity using timeless economic principles. Lynne's Podcast Lynne August MD Dr. A offers her interpretations and applications of Dr. Revici’s profound research at DrRevici.com and the Revici Journal. Dr. Revici was arguably fifty to one hundred years ahead of his time in his application of quantum physics to medical sciences. As a once-aspiring physicist, this alone propelled Dr. A to Dr. Revici. As a physician, she felt compelled, and in some palpable way responsible, to understand Dr. Revici’s ability to control pain and achieve remissions in terminal cancer patients with his non-toxic “guided chemotherapy”, even many cancers that conventional therapy failed to control. Most of the time his questions and solutions were as unprecedented as they were effective. While Dr. Revici was primarily focused on cancer, Dr. A’s research and therapeutics to prevent and treat all chronic and degenerative disease can transform 21st century medicine.
