EP116 Jo Irving and Oliver Blackaby discuss the power of business coaching

from Respectfully

Welcome to the new series of Spring podcasts for 2024! We open with a retro look at one of our earlier recordings. In 2021 we hosted a podcast recording with Jo Irving and Oliver Blackaby. A hairdresser, salon owner and business coach, Jo had been working with Ollie on how to focus on his mental health whilst also launching his first salon. The Hair Salon in Hove on England's south coast is now three years old, and going well. Now for this new series of podcasts, Jo and Ollie return to tell Respectfully podcast host Nicky Pope how they continue to work together. Their mutual respect for one another is uplifting, and each guest has a lot to share about the value of business coaching in today's world. Jo Irving Jo Irving is a salon owner and professional business coach and a personal coach. In the conversation, she explains her personal journey to build a career and safeguard her own wellbeing. She has recently returned from a one month mediation training in Bali. Jo also hosts retreats, and you'll hear her explain the value of gifting yourself time to focus on what you want from yourself and your business in a safe space. Oliver BlackabyOliver Blackaby is celebrating three years of The Hair Salon, a 10-chair salon which he shares with a group of freelance hairdressers. He is open and honest about the process of business coaching and speaks eloquently of his time on a recent retreat in Dorset, hosted by Jo Irving. Today Ollie is so confident of his business that he can spend time away from the salon on projects including a podcast The So Lovely Talk Show which he presents with Siobhan Jones, and building his own education platform. Follow our guests here:For coaching: @joirving.coachingwww.joirving.comFor hairdressing: @theloft_reigate @joloveshair@oliverblackabyhair @the.hairsalonFor podcast: @thesolovelytalkshowTo explore the library of Respectfully hair podcasts, click HEREFor more of the latest industry news, click HERE.________________________________Respect is a hub for UK hairdressers of all ages and stages to find out what We Love, We Hear  and We See  as the best product launches, styling advice, hairtools, education training and seminars and hairshows! We Did It Medway Rob Flood, Philip Dodd We Did It Medway is a bright, quirky, respectfully irreverent podcast, celebrating the best of Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham... and not forgetting Rainham. Or come to that the Peninsula. Each episode we take a fresh look at – and listen to – the rich culture, history and character of Medway. We love meeting and talking to people with a tale to tell. So in this first series – which is going live in mid-June – we’ve included the stories of Isaac Newell, born in Strood, who took football to Argentina: amazingly people who played for Newell’s Old Boys include Messi, Maradona, Pochettino and Bielsa. Then we go onboard the paddle steamer the Medway Queen, a true heroine of Dunkirk which had its 100th birthday in April. And we revisit the day Jimi Hendrix played Chatham. There’s also a sideways look at Charles Dickens, the gay heritage of Chatham Intra and women’s suffrage.</p Not Sunday School Joshua Hickman Welcome to the Not Sunday School Podcast! We want to talk about all of those fringe, awkward, and controversial subjects that most Pastors can't or don't want to address on a Sunday morning. We have nothing to lose, so we'll go there respectfully and unapologetically.
