Episode 1 - The Point: Beyond Overthinking & Struggle, to the Hidden Simplicity at the Heart of Life

from Spirit of Enquiry: Wellbeing Conversations for Change · host Suzie Yeulett, Change Coach | Wellbeing Transformation Expert

Welcome to The Spirit of Enquiry podcast! In this first episode, I introduce the core idea behind the show and the symbol that represents it: an inverted triangle. At the broad, lateral top of the triangle, we find the surface level of life - our conditioned thinking, opinions, and habitual ways of seeing the world. This is where we often get caught up in the past and future, in judgment, comparison, and unnecessary tension. But as we move down toward The Point - the present moment - we begin to shed these layers of mental noise and tap into something deeper, more peaceful, and fundamentally true.In this episode, we explore:✔️ How our conditioned thinking shapes our experience of life✔️ The difference between being lost in thought and being present✔️ Why suffering often comes from resisting what is✔️ A simple way to bring yourself back to the present moment when feeling tense✔️ The invitation to look beyond habitual thinking and into a more effortless way of beingThis podcast isn’t about rigid beliefs or fixed ideas - it’s an exploration. A way of looking beyond the usual mental chatter to see life with more clarity, ease, and depth. I hope you’ll listen with an open heart and mind.If you’ve ever asked any of these questions, this podcast is for you. Join me as we explore a simpler, more natural way of seeing life - beyond overthinking, beyond struggle, and right to The Point. If you’ve ever asked: “How can I quiet my mind and feel more at ease in daily life?”“I know mindfulness is helpful, but I struggle to practice it consistently. Is there a simpler way?”“I feel stuck in my thoughts - how can I see beyond them?”“I’m curious about non-duality but don’t know where to start. Any recommendations?”“How can I be more present and less caught up in overthinking?”This podcast is perfect for people who sense there’s a deeper way to experience life but don’t want complex spiritual jargon or rigid techniques. It’s for those who are curious, open, and ready to explore beyond their habitual thinking. My hope is to help you feel balanced, content and happy more often! The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
