Episode 11 - Compassions Training and Awareness Center with Edna Sutton [Trigger Warning]

Edna Sutton is a survivor of domestic violence as a young woman that resulted in paralysis. She lives independently with assistance from caregivers that come to her home to provide assistance for activities of daily living. Edna found that the caregivers that were sent to her home had virtually no training at all, let alone on how to care for someone with paralysis. She created Compassions Training and Awareness Center to provide specialized hands-on training to home care providers on how to take care of a person living with paralysis, as well as to teach people who need caregivers how to advocate for themselves to get the safe, competent care they require.Edna is passionate about speaking out to bring awareness to the critical but rarely talked about issue of abuse by caregivers to the people in their care. Edna has personally endured abusive situations of rape, neglect, and much more, and is committed to being a voice for change.Edna has achieved numerous awards and recognitions for her work.
