Summary
Happy pod day gang! This week in the condo we’re looking around like… is it even safe to leave the house right now? With war escalating the US Embassy in Jerusalem basically told Americans abroad they’re on their own, making this a pretty wild moment to be traveling anywhere near the conflict. Back in music, Rochelle Jordan lands the March cover of The Fader. Houston rapper Monaleo had fans worried after sharing news that she’d been hospitalized. We also take a moment to honor legendary engineer Bob Power whose work helped shape some of the most iconic hip-hop and soul records ever pressed to wax. Things get heated in the AI debate. Tim Ingham of Music Business Worldwide fired off a brutal open letter to Suno, calling the platform a “grubby facsimile of human connection.” At the same time, SZA says she feels like she’s “at war with AI,” arguing it’s disproportionately impacting Black music, especially as platforms like Apple Music experiment with AI tagging. But it’s not all robot wins. The Supreme Court of the United States let stand a ruling that AI-generated art without human authorship can’t be copyrighted, which many creatives are calling a small but meaningful victory for human imagination. Just another week at the condo. Subscribe, rate, like, comment & share. #StayReasonable
