Episode 42: Self Care -  Finding Calm Amidst Chaos

This month on A Soulful Mom’s Wisdom podcast, we’re leaning into the theme of mindfulness—how tuning into our inner voice can shape the way we move through everyday storms. In this episode, I’m reflecting on the subtle, quiet moments when life feels heavier than expected, and how listening inward becomes its own form of grace.

The quote guiding today’s journey is from Africa O.:

“Trying to do the impossible when in the moment it feels possible.”

Whew. A whole sermon in one sentence.

I open this conversation by tying last week’s reflections to this ongoing explorationbecause mindfulness is not a destination, but a rhythm we learn to return to.

There’s a small story I share, one many moms will recognize. After putting my daughter down for the night, I told myself it was my time. A simple Starbucks drive-thru run somehow became a mirror for my overwhelm, the quiet reminder that I was pushing past my limits without noticing. Those everyday temptations to “do just one more thing” even when our bodies whisper, “Rest.”

From there, we ease into practical tools: brief mindfulness exercises, short listening practices you can do anywhere, breathing and grounding techniques, even a walking meditation pulled from my blog. Mindfulness doesn’t have to be dramatic—it just asks that we show up with presence.

Then we shift into wellness. How tending to your inner landscape, accepting tiredness, honoring the need for rest, practicing good sleep hygiene—creates mental clarity and prepares your energy for movement. Sometimes the most nourishing workout is simply a slow walk that helps the mind uncoil.

We close with an invitation:

“What’s one moment today you paused and listened to yourself?”

A soft nudge to remind you that your intuition is always speaking, your only job is to make enough space to hear it.

Theme: Mindfulness

Quote: “Trying to do the impossible when in the moment it feels possible.” —Africa O.
