The story begins with a man witnessing an execution. That man was Thomas Whaley who, not long after, moves from his home in New York to San Diego, buys the land where the execution occurred, and builds a house on the spot where the gallows once stood. That house is now known as the Whaley House. The Whaley story is one full of heart wrenching tragedy and just plain bad luck. As you might have guessed, the story is full of both history and ghosts. Today, the house endures as a museum to the past and as one of San Diego’s most prominent paranormal hotspots.
