Episode 75 : Luke 1: 46-55 ; Philippians 2: 5-11

from Catechesis · host Lewis and Broad

Mary’s Song of Praise46 And Mary[a] said,“My soul magnifies the Lord,47     and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,48 for he has looked with favor on the lowly state of his servant.    Surely from now on all generations will call me blessed,49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me,    and holy is his name;50 indeed, his mercy is for those who fear him    from generation to generation.51 He has shown strength with his arm;    he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.52 He has brought down the powerful from their thrones    and lifted up the lowly;53 he has filled the hungry with good things    and sent the rich away empty.54 He has come to the aid of his child Israel,    in remembrance of his mercy,55 according to the promise he made to our ancestors,    to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”Philippians 2:5-115 Let the same mind be in you that was[a] in Christ Jesus,6 who, though he existed in the form of God,    did not regard equality with God    as something to be grasped,7 but emptied himself,    taking the form of a slave,    assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human,8     he humbled himself    and became obedient to the point of death—    even death on a cross.9 Therefore God exalted him even more highly    and gave him the name    that is above every other name,10 so that at the name given to Jesus    every knee should bend,    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue should confess    that Jesus Christ is Lord,    to the glory of God the Father.
