Episode 99 - Law and Policy: An International Journey of Self-Discovery with Anne Lim

Our guest this week arrived in New Zealand from Malaysia as a fresh faced 17 year old to embark on her tertiary pathway. However, before navigating that she had to get used to the radically different culture that welcomed her to her new "home".  Anne Lim decided to try a law paper because she was looking for something that would get her problem solving and critical juices flowing. This paper that was done just to see what it was like ended up being one of Anne's qualifications as she graduated with an LLB and a BA in Politics. In this episode we speak to Anne about this study journey, but how this set her up to work as a corporate lawyer for a few years before she moved to a policy role in the New Zealand Police. We speak about the transition from corporate law into policy work. We speak about some of the pieces of work  that Anne got involved in such as DNA testing. During her time working at Police Anne applied and got accepted into the Masters of Public Policy at Oxford University. On her recent graduation we also touch into her role at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
