Fall Theology Series Week 4--Ephesians 1:13-14

from Faith Sermons and Studies · host Faith Baptist Church

Have you ever made an investment? People make all sorts of investments today. Some people make investments in property—you have rentals that you lease out to people, or condominiums. Recently, cryptocurrency like Bitcoin became the buzz, and some people made out quite well investing in things like bitcoin. or certain types of cryptocurrency. Some people invest in the stock market, and they invest their money and are able to multiply it through playing the stock market. Others invest in bonds, or you could invest in a small business. People invest in all kinds of things. I wonder—what investments have you made? ‌‌. . . God also made an investment. It is not an investment in cryptocurrency or the stock market, it is an investment in our salvation. And it’s an investment that cost him dearly—he invested everything for our salvation. What is the investment God made in salvation? Well the ultimate investment is the death of his Son Jesus—God sent his very own son to accomplish our salvation. And this is something that didn’t just start with the coming of Jesus to earth, this started before the earth was formed when God predestined it to happen. That’s why I use the term investment here and I want to make sure you know the investment we are talking about, because God risked so much for us! ‌‌ But many times we question God’s investment. We wonder if it really worked, is God really committed to us in that way, or we minimize it and it loses it’s value to us. But that doesn’t change the fact that God made this investment! And as we close our text today, week 4 of our fall theology series, we see firsthand how God guaranteed that he will not go back on his investment through the presence of the Holy Spirit. That’s what our big idea tells us today: ‌‌‌ Big Idea: The free gift of the Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will not go back on his investment ‌‌
