Fantasy, Lore, & More: Lightning & Ember

from Epic Fantasy Adventures, Books, Lore, and More! · host Melinda Kucsera

Hi, I'm indie fantasy author, Melinda Kucsera, and in this episode, E.B. Repetto is joining me to talk about her book, Lightning & Ember. What's it about? Akina de Kitamura and her twin sister Miki, bastard children of a Volandrian nobleman and a Solterrean commoner, struggle for acceptance in Volandrian nobility. Despite their uncle's favor, they face scorn at the prestigious Academy. As graduation approaches, Akina reluctantly joins her sister and friend Cassius in their quest for acknowledgment. However, an unexpected intruder brings shocking revelations about the past, forcing the trio to adapt quickly and protect each other in a rapidly changing landscape. Lightning & Ember is an action-packed, character-driven fantasy. Set in the Four Kingdoms world created by E.B. Repetto, Lightning & Ember is military fantasy. What's in this episode: E.B. Repetto will take us into a world of nobility, military academies, and hidden pasts with an excerpt from Lightning & Ember, and we'll explore aspects of that world, like its political landscape, military training, and magical elements. We'll find out what to expect from the series and maybe get some spoiler-free highlights of what's to come, including insights into the recently released second book. We'll discuss Akina's journey from reluctant participant to protector, and discover worldbuilding details about the Four Kingdoms, the Academy, and the complex social dynamics at play. Join us in a place where nobility and bastards clash, where military prowess meets political intrigue, and where unexpected revelations can change everything.
